Luis Resto
Luis Resto was born on June 11, 1955 in Juncos, Puerto Rico. His family then decided to shift to the Bronx when Luis was of nine years old. Luis Resto is a boxer from Bronx, New York. He elbowed his teacher when he was in 8th grade and was send to rehabilitation center for six months. After this incidence his uncle signed him up for boxing to take boxing lesions.
He was trained at the Police Athletic Leagues Lynch Center. He won 147lb Golden Gloves Open Gloves Open Championships of 1975 and in the finals of the 1976 147lb Open Championship he beat Miguel Hernandez. In 1973 147lb Sub-Championship, he was beaten by Victor Checo of New York.
His professional career was started on February 4, 1977 by beating Julio Chevalier. His first knockout career was recorded in May with his third fight against Mike Lytell. He collected a record of 20-8-1 with 8 wins through 29 fights. This career graph made him a great journeyman. On June 16, 1983 he beat Billy Collins Jr at Madison Square Garden.
Before the fight with Billy Collins Jr, Luis and his trainer removed the padding from his boxing glove. 25 years ago he beat Billy Collins Jr at Madison Square. After that both Resto and Billy convicted in crime and handed time for their crime. Billy then suffered by depression and blurry vision but after nine months he died in a car accident. However, both boxers were banned from boxing for their whole life.
