Cash for Clunkers
'Cash for Clunkers', which is now kwon as the Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS). The cash for Clunkers 2009 Program was assigned on June 24, 2009 by president to encourage consumers to deal in less efficient and older vehicles. The program 'cash for clunkers' will end on Monday at 8 pm. ET on August 24, 2009.
The cash for clunkers requirements needs only to fill formality such as the paperwork after that it is very straightforward and easy for the dealers to deal the vehicles. This program is also going to provide a voucher of $ 4,500 or more than it for the purpose of balancing the cost of new car purchases for next five months.
Now there is a new version, which congress passed it and is specially stands for a marginal win for both makers and backers of fuel efficient cars. This model has modest MPG requirements and succeeds to beat out competing cash for clunkers proposal.
Alan Blinder an economist helped to popularize this program or idea of a scrap page program. He also helped to suggest the name 'cash for clunkers' for the program with the help of his op-Ed piece in the New York Times. According to him the program would have purpose to help environment and to reduce economic inequality and stimulating economy.
Various organizers were responsible for advising in the development of the program including ACEEE, Smart Transporting.org and CAP Action Fund. While, Bracken Hendricks of center of American Progress and Jack Hidary of Smart Transportation.org helped write a paper, which was used to distribute in the Congressional offices in November 2008. The papers was describing about the benefits of cash clunkers program.
It is supposed that the program will run from July 1 through November 1. The US department took 30 days to set the program with regulations and after that they get signature of Obama for further procedure. The program will work on the basis of clunkers, required cash, passenger cars and trucks and SUV's.
