China Central Television Headquarters
China Central Television Headquarters that is also known as CCTV Headquarters is a skyscraper located in the Beijing Central Business District. It is the headquarters of China Central Television. The innovative of the building was started on September 22, 2004 and the façade completed in June 2008. The design for the building was provided by Arup and Ole Scheeren and Rem Koolhaas of were the architects of the building.
The contract for the Office for Metropolitan Architecture was won from the Beijing International Tendering Co for the construction of the Television Cultural Center and CCTV Headquarters on December 20, 2002. The building is one of the 300 new towers in the Beijing CBD. The television contains administration, program production studios, news and broadcasting.
China Central Television that is also known as Chinese Central Television is a major state television broadcaster in mainland China. It has total 19 channels broadcasting number of programs. The station is one of the official spokesperson of the Chinese government. The first program by the CCTV was aired on September 2, 1958 under title Peking Television. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the China Central Television, a new CCTV Headquarters was opened on September 2, 2008.
The Beijing National Aquatics Center is also known as the National Aquatics Center and is nicknamed as the Water Cube. It was built for the swimming competitions of the 2008 Summer Olympics alongside Beijing National Stadium in the Olympic Green. Recently during 2008 Olympics, the swimmers at the Water Cube broke the 25 world records.
