Devendra BanhartDevendra Obi Banhart is a visual artist, singer and songwriter born in Houston, Texas on May 30, 1981. In 1998, he began his studies at the San Francisco Art Institute. However, later he dropped out to make career in music and performed in Europe, Los Angeles and San Francisco. He released his debut album in 2002. He received good reviews in 2002 for his album 'Oh ME Oh My' published by Young God Records.
He performed with the Vetiver in Carnegie Hall and also in Hollywood Bowl, Coachella music festivals, Bonnaroo etc. In 2005, he founded a record label with Andy Cabic. He signed with Elliot Roberts, a Neil Young's manager. For the 2008, he released his new album Surfing. Nanhart was also known for his relationship with actress Natalie Portman for few months. He released his latest music video, Banhart portrays alongside his girlfriend Netalie Portman. In this video he did a role of prince with rebellious who tries to win the love of princess. Netalie played a role of princess in this video. This artist is associated with New Weird America where as his music is called as 'Free associative work'. His music style is known as psych folk, Lo-Fi, freak folk and alternative folk.
