Did the Groundhog See his Shadow

Groundhog is from the Sciuridae family and is also known as whistle-pig or woodchuck. The species belongs to the group of squirrels, which are known as marmots. This species is distributed in central and northeastern United States, North America. Groundhogs are also found in Alaska and Alabama.

Groundhog Shadow

Recently that on February 2, 2009 the movie with the name Groundhog Day was come based on the facto whether he will see his shadow. There is some assumption that if groundhog sees his shadow winter may extends by 6 more weeks and if not then there are only 44 days left of winter. Because of this February 2 is dedicated as Groundhog Day. This all program is done by Punxutaweny Phil.

Punxutaweny Phil is Pennsylvania's very famous winter weather forecaster. He got too much popularity in recent years compare to furry star of the movie Groundhog Day. There is community of Punxutaweny where about 30,000 people witness the groundhog emerge and ask, did the groundhog see his shadow or not.

'Groundhog Day' is celebrated on February 2 and is a holiday in Canada and United States. The celebration includes the early morning festivals to watch groundhog emerging from its burrow. Punxsutawney form Pennsylvania is the place where largest Groundhog Celebration is being held.
