Flight of the Conchords
'Flight of the Conchords' is a comedy duo of New Zealand composed by Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie. This comedy folk duo is the fourth most popular duo in New Zealand. The group is having the combination of characterization, humorous observation and acoustic guitar music. This music became the foundation of the American Television Series and BBC radio series, which is also known as Flight of the Conchords that premiered in 2007.
In 2005 the duo was named as the Best Alternative Comedy Act at US Comedy Arts Festival. Also they got the award of at Melbourne Comedy Festival as the Best Newcomer. In 2003 they grabbed the Perrier Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The duo also does the live performances in worldwide.
These both people, Jemaine and Bret were roomies at the Victoria University of Wellington and the student of film and theatre. After completing their studies they decided to build their own group and created the 'Flight of the Conchrords' in 1998. However, they first performed in the group of five men known as 'So You're a Man'. They performed their first television performance on May 3, 2000 as a Newtown Salad show on a local TV station 'Channel 7'.
Recently, that in June 2000, the band performed in a Late Show of David Letterman where they interviewed by Terry Gross for the show 'Frash Air' of NPR radio. They also appeared in Bonnaroo Music Festival of 2007 held in Manchester, Tennessee. On June 14, 2007 Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie performed in New York at Gramercy Theatre.
