Google Under the Sea
Google brought a new and major upgrade for Google Earth as a Google Earth 5 beta having number of features such as historical maps, Mars togopography, interactive underwater details and excellent ability to record Google Earth Journeys.
Apart from these feature the oceanography details is addition to these features. Before this Google has offered 2D and minor topographical sketches of the ocean of the earth but now the latest version add some required details that you can enjoy diving under the ocean and may fly over mountains, undersea landmarks, shipwreckes, trenches and many more like this.
Now it's a great way to share geographical information with help of Google Earth as 3D and Google Maps on the web. This new product or feature Google 3D Maps for Oceans launched on February 2, 2009. In 2007 the advisory group 'Google Oceans Advisory Council' of 18 members discussed about to create this 3D map of oceans. According to some people the new creation is an underwater version of 'Google Earth' that only encourage interest in oceanography showing its behaviors, weather patterns and change in temperature.
If some one wants to know more about this feature then there are some future implements such as;
- CCOM/UNH's GeoCoastPiolt and GeoNav3D
- COVE for observing the Ocean environments
- Virtual Ocean-It's a Java application and is developed at LDEO as part of MGDS
