Jefferson City
Jefferson City is a Cole County's county seat and the capital of U. S. state of Missouri. The city is located in the counties of Cole and Callaway and is the major city of Jefferson City metropolitan area. The name Jefferson was given to the city after Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States of America. Geographically it is located at 38°38'58"N 92°12'52"W. Jefferson is having total area of 28.3 square miles.
Once that is in the pre-Columbian times the place was known for the people who were known as the Mound Builders. As the European settlers started to arrive the Mount Builders had vanished that was become a history. In 1812, Missouri Territory was organized and St. Louis become as a seat of government. St. Charles became the next serving as capital. However, city has a mayor council system, which is has been selected by voting. The city council consists in all ten members, which are selected as two from five wards.
The city is very much popular for its architecture, statuary and paintings. The Missouri State Capital is well known for its architecture features that include verities of things but the most known thing is its south portico's eight 48 foot columns and north side's six 40 foot columns. Jefferson City is the sister city of Munchberg of German. Because of this the German section of the city is called as 'Old Munichburg'.
