Monmouth ParkMonmouth Park is the race track with about 100 foot wide and one mile oval. It was opened on July 30, 1870 in Long Branch, New Jersey. Each 1/8 mile is covered with green and white pole along the inside rail. Each 1/4 mile is highlighted by red and white pole and 1/16 mile is intended by black and white pole.
However, in 1946, a bill was passed by the state legislature to provide the state regulation for horse racing. Amory L.Haskell and Philip H. Iselin had promoted the horse racing by leading the legislative charges to permit the race once again in New Jersey. Jess Jackson has announced that the Preakness will run the in the $ 1 million Haskell Invitational 2009 on August 2 at Monmouth Park of New Jersey. Later than it was bought by George L. Lorillard, David D. Withers, James George P. Wetmore and Gordon Bennett Jr. Wither then bring a lot changes and facilities to the racetrack and helped to found racings Board of Control. The track got popularity from 1882 to 1890. The track closed its doors after the banning the pari-mutuel betting in New Jersey.
