Narcissistic
Narcissistic is the term referring the features of egotism including character traits related to self-image ego. There are some term including narcissism, narcissist and narcissistic are used as pejoratives indicating conceit, pride and selfishness. The name narcissism was taken from a Greek mythology where in Greek there was a handsome youth with the same name. He had rejected the anxious advances of the nymph Echo.
According to Freud some narcissism that is the important part for us from birth. We can define this term as a psychological condition with the conditions such as lack of empathy, self-preoccupation and unconscious deficits in self-esteem.
Narcissistic personality disorder in short NPD is a personality disorder. The term defined by the diagnostic classification system, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders of United States. The narcissist is the person with excessive issues of personal adequacy power and prestige and close relation with self-centeredness. While the term narcissism was launched in 1967 by Kernberg where as Kohut has proposed the disorder in 1968.
The term or the disorder narcissistic has been listed under 'Other Specific Personality Disorders' by ICD-10 of World Health Organization. They diagnose personality disorders satisfying a bunch of General Personality Disorder Criteria. The symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder show features or symptoms such as lack of empathy from the childhood.
There are some subtypes of narcissist such as;
- Unprincipled narcissist showing antisocial feature
- Compensatory narcissist with passive aggressive attitude and avoidant features
- Amorous narcissist with historic features
- Elitist narcissist
- Fanatic type with paranoid features
