Panama Lewis
Panama lewis was born on November 4, 1945. He was very successful boxing trainer who gained notoriety in 1980s. He was follower of Chickie Ferrara who was legendary trainer. In 1980 there were Lou Duva and Emanuel Steward who were successful trainers, at the same period Panama was also considered one of the best boxer trainers.
The light weight champion Aaron Pryor was the most well-known boxer in his firm. Lewis experienced one of the most important incidents of his life on June 16, 1983. Luis Resto, who was taking training under Panama Lewis was going to fight with Billy Collins Jr, which was undercard between Davey Moore and Roberto Duran.
Resto won this fight in 10 rounds. After fight Resto shake hand with Collins and his trainer Billy but he found that his gloves are thinner than normal. He observed that gloves have padding and demanded that New York State Boxing Commission should have to impound the gloves for investigation. After investigation it is found that there is no padding in any gloves. Addition to this each glove was with hole of 0.75 inch in the palm. After this incident Collins suffered by torn iris and ended his boxing career.
The New York State found after investigation that Levis have altered with the gloves. On July 1, 1983 he lost his boxing license permanently. His win was also turned into a no contest. After that in October 1986, both Lewis and Resto go through the investigation and found that both are responsible for the physical attack.
