Pocono Raceway
Pocono is an international raceway, which is located in the mountains of Pocono of Pennsylvnia. It is one of the largest raceway of America. There is special family feeling for this raceway because of Mattoli family, which is the feature of this raceway. Both Joe and Rose are doctors who moved towards Pocono Mountains after giving up their practice. Mattoli family added this raceway in their other tracks of South Boston, Virginia and South Boston Speedway.
The raceway was actually started in 1960s when a businessmen group bought this place of 1,025 of forest and started working to turn it in racetrack. In 1969 the oval of three quarter mile was finished. Remaining work with 2.5 mile was then completed after two years.
Pocono raceway is also known as Bermuda Triangle or Tricky Triangle. In last week there were two 'NASCAR Spirit Cup Series' races, which were held at Pocono. In 2010 there will be truck series at the Pocono racetrack. The Sports Club Car Club of America has also used the raceway. The race '2009 Pocono 500' held in July 2009 was win by Tony Stewart.
According to some drivers and fans, the race of 500 mile at the Pocono seems too long while drivers of spirit cup added that Pocono is not so much exiting track on the circuit.
