Purple Pee
Purple pee is a syndrome in which the person haves a urine if purple color. It occurs because of medical syndrome 'Purple urine bag syndrome'. It was first described in 1978. The medical syndrome changes the color of urine with co-existent urinary tract infection and urinary catheters.
The bacteria present in the urine create the enzyme indoxyl phosphatase. It then converts the indoxyl sulfate into blue and red compound indigo and indirubin. Some of the most hidden bacteria are Providencia rettgeri, Providencia stuartii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabills, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Morganella morgani.
However, the purple urine bag doesn't show any symptoms or signs and can be noted by carers. The syndrome mostly founds in female of the nursing home residents. The syndrome could create other risk factors such as constipation, alkaline urine, catheter user and polyvinyl chloride.
