Shirley McClain
Shirley MaClaine is an American actress, author, activist and dancer. She was born on April 24, 1934 in Richmond Virginia. She is elder sister of Warren Beatty. She has written some autobiographical works along with her Hollywood career. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1983 for the role in 'Terms of Endearment'. She had very weak ankles that her mother decided to register her in the ballet class.
Her acting career was started at the School Washington-Lee High School where she acted in school's productions. In 1955, she made the debut in 'The Trouble with Harry' by Alfred Hitchcock. This debut helped her to win the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year Actress'. She also appeared in the film Some Came Running that gave her first Academy Award nomination. She appeared in number of films and made documentaries. Her film 'The Other Half of the Sky: A China Memoir' was nominated for the Best Documentary Feature. Recently on July 22, 2008, was on tube with saying out her life and about divorce.
