Slum Village
Slum village is a musical hip-hop group of three person including Rapper Baatin, Producer Jay Dee and T3 of Detroit. This musical group is very much famous in Detroit but now it lost two stars Jay Dee in February 2006 and Baatin in July 2009.
Jay Dee was also a member of the production team, which was known as 'The Ummah' who produced studio albums, R and B and hip hop music. Jay Dee left this musical group in 2002 to follow a solo career with MCA records that was after replaced with Elzhi and Rapper Baatin left group because of some health problems.
Baatin, Jay Dee and T3 grew up in Detroit and together attended Pershing School. 'Fantastic, Vol. 1' was the first album of this group, which was come in 1996 but was officially not released till 2005. Then there was another hip hop trio by this group named 'A Tribe Called Quest' that was come in 1998.
Further the hip-hop group was changed its name to Slum village, which was first made by jay Dee, Baatin and T3. Baatin was an active member of SV group till 2000. After then he left the group because of some health complications. He diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar and depression tendencies. However, he stated that he was kicked out from the group while he was in hospital and got termination letter signed by T3 and Elzhi.
Then group became a twosome consisting Elzhi and T3 at the time of release of their 2004 album. The album got success with hit single selfish, which was produced by Kanye West. The song 'Call Me' by Aretha Franklin from this album was hit at that time.
