Her mother Barbro Holmberg is a politician and minister of Swedish migration and asylum policy. Her father is a radio journalist and also served as a bureau chief in Washington, D.C.
Once she had met Mia Parnvik, a wife of Swedish golfer Jesper Parnvik in the Champagne, Stockholm clothing where she was doing a job. Mia introduced Elin to Tiger Woods in 2001 in the British Open.
