WMC TV in Memphis
WMC-V is the NBC partner for the Memphis, Tennessee the metropolitan area. The work of the station goes through the satellite and cable systems and provides service in the arias of the western third of Tennessee, northeastern Arkansas, northwestern Mississippi and the southeastern corner of Missouri. Memphis is the place where the transmitter of the system is located. Its first television station was started was on December 11, 1948 on channel four. E.W. Scripps Company and the news paper 'The Commercial Appeal' and WMC radio had owned this television station. In 1952 it moved to channel 5 because of some interference with WSM-TV, which is now known as WSMV.
One June 17, 2007 one mishap was happened in Mississippi, which was showed by the channel as the Amateur video of this drag racing car crash. The crash was occurred on the Saturday night during an exhibition burnout. Six people lost their life in this mishap including 15 and17 year old girls respectively. The mishap also injured 18 people who were then shifted to hospital in the Mississippi and Tennessee. The driver was identified as Troy Warren Critchley of Australia who is a pro dragger racer. He got some minor injuries in this accident. However, no any criminal charges were applied against Critchley.
The video showed the real picture and live picture of the accident. The amateur showed that the car's engine is revving very loudly before crossing the highway lines having spectators on both sides. After some few feet the smoking car slipped off the road. Some victims of the incident said that the vehicle was started burning with its tires and then crashed in to the utility pole before rotating around the audience.
