Yellowknife Canada
Yelloknife is a capital of the Northwest Territories, Canada with the population 18,700 in the year 2006. Its exact location is on the north shore of Great Slave Lake at the 400 km to the south of Arctic Circle. The name Yellowknife was given to the place because of the local Yellowknives Dene the First Nation. The place is having about eleven local languages from which five are being spoken in the major numbers of Yellowknife. These five languages include South and North Slavey, English, Dogrib, Dene Suline and French.
The city was first settled in 1935 after finding gold in that area. The city is now the center of economic activity in NWT. The place became the capital of the Northwest Territories in 1967. The city then became the town and the center of government of services in 1980s. In 1991 the diamonds were found in the north of Yellokinfe. Yellowknife is having a municipal government system, which is being ruled by the Yellowknife City Council consisting Mayor and Councilors. Yellowkinfe is being celebrating the 'Folk on the Rocks' a local music since 1980 featuring a number of acts. But in 2007 the celebration was not happened because of not getting the organizer for the event.
June 2007 was come in to light because of the documentary program a reality television show 'Ice Road Truckers' held on June 17, 2007. The history channel aired this 46 minute episode as the part of the series of the suicide missions of the ice road truck drivers. The show first was started and aired in 1999.
